Mono is a non-periodical publication edited by the i2ADS’ Research Group in Art and Intermedia (NAi).
Mono aims to cross theory and practice around the areas usually referred to as visual arts, broadly addressing a series of different topics within contemporary art and design practices. Its title – Mono – refers both to the idea of a thematic publication and to the volume/prototype made by printers and designers to prepare the final printed object. Each issue will have one or more guest editors and will focus on a particular topic.
The first issue of Mono was published in June 2007. For many reasons, the usual ones, the project ran aground, ironically making up to its name: a single issue for a publication that wanted each issue to be unique. In 2013 we decided to awake the project with the publication of Mono #2. Further issues will follow, on an irregular basis but always in close connection with the activities and projects of our research group.
